Prices
Each commission is entirely bespoke, and pricing reflects the time, skill and care involved in creating a hand-drawn portrait intended to last for generations.
Rather than working to a rigid set of standard formats, I guide clients towards a scale and composition that best suits the subject, the space where the portrait will live and the significance of the moment being marked.
I accept a limited number of commissions each year so each portrait receives the focus and care it deserves.
Original commissioned artwork
Portrait formats
I offer two broad portrait formats. During our consultation, I will advise on the most suitable option for your commission.
Clients typically decide on the format first, with dimensions recommended afterwards.
Intimate portraits
Intimate portraits focus on a single subject and are created at a smaller scale designed for closer viewing, for example in bedrooms or studies.
Statement portraits
Statement portraits are created at a larger scale, having greater visual presence and are designed to hold their own within a room.
For many clients, a statement portrait becomes the defining heirloom piece for a particular stage in life.
Multi-subject and family commissions
When more than one subject is included, I carefully consider balance, spacing and composition to ensure each individual is given appropriate presence.
When capturing children, families will often choose a series of individual portraits rather than a group portrait, to allow each child to possess their own heirloom. However, a large multi-generational family portrait is a breathtaking statement piece.

Artistic approach
My portraits focus on the subject themselves, using minimal backgrounds and a restrained approach to clothing.
Where additional elements, such as detailed clothing, interior settings or backgrounds are important to the composition, these can be discussed during consultation and are priced individually once the reference photo has been selected.
Typically, additional details cost around £70-£190 depending on complexity. Exceptionally detailed backgrounds can take as long as the subject to draw and are priced accordingly.
As additional work is usually commissioned after the 50% deposit has been paid at the stage when the reference photo is being decided upon, any additional sums will be added to the final invoice (a second deposit payment will not be required).
Paper and dimensions
The size of the work is bespoke and can be agreed in consultation with you. I can guide you on the most appropriate scale for your commission, taking into account your intention for the work, the framing and where the portrait will live.
Although sizing is bespoke, by way of a guide:
- intimate scale works will usually be any size up to 9x12 inches; and
- statement scale works will usually be any size larger than 9x12 inches
Signed giclée prints (archival fine art reproductions)
When commissioning a work, many families choose to add prints for grandparents or family members.
Each giclée print of your commissioned artwork is produced using archival, museum-quality inks on luxurious Hahnmühle fine art paper, ensuring exceptional accuracy, rich detail and longevity for generations.
I offer bespoke sized prints, customised to align with the dimensions of your commissioned work. However, by way of guidance:
A5: £50
A4: £70
A3: £90
Larger than A3: please contact me for a quote.
Prints are available exclusively to commissioning clients and their families.
Framing
I provide a framing service which can be used for both original artwork and giclée prints. Please contact me for pricing options. More information on framing cam be found here.
